Effect of Tire Pressure on Vehicle Vibration Using ADXL-335 Accelerometer Sensor
August, 2019 - January, 2020
The system that prevents the vehicle from road shocks due to bad road condition is called the suspension system. Suspension system is so much important for a vehicle. It supports the weight of the vehicle and provides a smooth riding. It is also Important for ensuring safety and comfort of the passengers. Suspension system is the composition of various components that collectively prevents the vehicle from shocks due to bad road condition. It is very much crucial for a vehicle as it provides safety and comfort of the driver and passengers. The suspension system is affected by excessive mechanical vibration of the vehicle body which is created by incorrect tire inflation pressure. Tires are the most important part of a vehicle suspension system. Tires inflated with a pressure either higher or lower than the optimum pressure causes degradation in performance of the suspension system, comfort and safety. That is why, the effect of tire pressure on vehicle vibration as well as suspension system is studied here. Using Arduino and ADXL-335 sensor, vibration is measured for various tire pressures. The data collected from the accelerometer is sent to the Arduino and then it is fed to the MATLAB. Then it performs FFT for making spectrogram. The results are shown in graphical representation. The vibrations measured in different cases are compared and analyzed.
